Contributor programme

Contributor Guidelines

The standards every contribution to the Mobbed at Work Library is reviewed against.

  1. 1.Original work

All submitted work must be original. Contributors must own the work or have permission to submit it. Do not submit text copied from books, reports, employer policies, websites, client documents, or other publications.

  2. 2.Plain language

Write for a general adult audience. Avoid unexplained jargon. Define necessary technical terms. Use short paragraphs and practical examples.

  3. 3.No individualized advice

Do not provide individual legal, medical, clinical, employment, insurance, HR, union, or crisis advice. Write for readers in general situations, and point them toward qualified professionals for anything specific.

  4. 4.No client or workplace identification

Do not identify clients, employers, coworkers, patients, workplace participants, confidential matters, active investigations, or private legal disputes without written permission and editorial approval.

  5. 5.No promotional submissions

Do not submit advertorials, sales pages, affiliate content, keyword-stuffed articles, lead-generation content, or content that exists mainly to sell services.

  6. 6.Evidence and sourcing

Substantive factual claims must be sourced. Contributors must provide their sources and disclose when a claim is based on professional experience, personal experience, or published research.

  7. 7.Conflict disclosure

Contributors must disclose financial interests, employer relationships, affiliations, product interests, legal representation, or other conflicts that may influence the article.

  8. 8.Respectful language

Do not use stigmatizing language, stereotypes, attacks on named individuals, sensational claims, graphic content, or demeaning descriptions.

  9. 9.Editorial review

Mobbed at Work may edit for clarity, tone, accessibility, accuracy, length, structure, headline, links, safety, and fit. Material changes that affect meaning must be returned to the contributor for approval before publication.

  10. 10.No guarantee of publication

Submission does not guarantee acceptance, publication date, payment, promotion, or placement.

  11. 11.Contributor agreement

Before publication, contributors must agree to a written publication licence, originality statement, accuracy statement, conflict disclosure, and editorial-review terms.

  12. 12.Lived experience

Personal essays are welcome when shared safely and thoughtfully. Contributors should avoid identifying employers, coworkers, institutions, legal matters, or details that could create risk for themselves or others.

High-risk topics

Contributions that touch on employment law, human rights, discrimination, retaliation, termination, severance, settlement or non-disclosure agreements, performance management, investigations, union rights, benefits, sick leave, disability, accommodation, medical or mental-health claims, crisis content, or country- and region-specific procedures need additional expert or official-source review, and a second qualified reviewer before publication.

For these topics we look for official public sources wherever possible, a visible jurisdiction label, a last-reviewed date, and careful language, not individual advice, legal deadlines, or claims about what a reader's situation means.
